Just bought this Nuffield. Apparently a DM4. Just wondering how many litres of oil the engine takes and is a 15 /40w normal to use and also how many litres the gearbox and hydraulics take and oil specs and are these using the same reservoir filling from under the seat...………......….Im new to all this tractor stuff as I normally ride a 2 wheeled tractors, a 69 Harley and 69 triumph...…..Im in Nth Qld Australia...….Peter.....

Welcome.
Have a look for a manual in the download section:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3261

All capacities are in it.

Also check the FAQ section and you'll find a post on what oil to use. A 15w40 diesel spec will be fine for your engine. If I see it correctly you have a BMC engine in it now.

Regards,

Jeroen

Early diesel Nuffield tractors as your DM4, used Perkins engines. Later Nuffield tractors used BMC engines.

Oh ok.
The only info from the person I bought it from was that it was a 1957 Nuffield with 54 Hp. What year did they stop using the Perkins ? So in the workshop manual section id be looking for the BMC Mini Manual for the engine and the Nuffield DM4 manual for the Chasis, Hydraulics and other components ?
Once I know what it is ill know what manuals I need and where to start with it.
Sorry for all the questions.

You need the 4DM manual as given in the link. Have a look on top of the right hand side rail near the fuel pump. There is probably a data plate riveted to the frame.

The BMC mini is a whole different tractor.

Don't hesitate to ask! That's what this forum is all about.
