Nuffield Serial numbers

Post by CAVANBAILLIE »

I have two 465's with the following serial numbers:

65N/300413/Z 111366 with engine serial 38TD/1398/1544

and

65N/300100/Z 1114791 with engine serial 38TD/1398/182

Does anyone know how to decipher these codes? Date of manufacture... updates etc.

Hi, Not a lot to tell there and certainly no date hidden anywhere.
65N is a 4/65 with independent pto (65B is without livedrive)
The 300??? number if you look in a parts book it will tell you what options the tractor has fitted.
Z appears on exported tractors
123456 is the serial number.

For the engine is very similar
38TD is a 3.8 litre TD series engine.
1398 tells you in a parts book what options the engine has fitted ( clutch, manifolds and flywheel).
123456 is engine serial number.

Date engine was made is cast on the left side just forward of flywheel

Thanks for the reply and please accept my apologies as I included an extra "1" in the serial number, it should be:

65N/300100/Z 114791 with engine serial 38TD/1398/182
