Leyland 255 starter motor removal

Post by LDRcycles » Thu Aug 15, 2019 12:45 pm

The starter solenoid on my 255 has failed, and I'm trying to remove the starter motor to get it tested. I've successfully removed the 3 bolts but it doesn't want to move. I'm just checking there isn't a step I'm missing before I get a bit more vigorous with it :)

hi they can get stuck on the alloy they sit on a shoulder and the ally can corrode you just have to keep moving them till it comes off . theres only those three bolts that hold them on dont forget the earth strap too .

Thanks for that, it came out without too much violence  Motor is just fine, so $110 for a new solenoid instead of $360 for the whole lot 8-)
