272 Leyland PTO thrust/release bearing replacement

Post by adridhing »

Hi everyone, the thrust bearing has broken in my Leyland 272 tractor, I've been able to open it up and pull it apart according to the manual but the manual doesn't mention how to replace the thrust bearing itself. Do I need to put the retaining clips on the main clutch so that I can disconnect the thrust plate? Do I need to disconnect the thrust plate and pto thrust plate to pull the shaft out so I can replace the bearing, or do I need to take the whole clutch out to replace the bearing?
Even our local mechanic is stuck on this one! Thanks in advance for your help, Andrew

Hi, you need to put the clips on, slide the shaft back and remove the whole clutch pack
